Since its establishment in Northern Ireland War on Want NI and its sister organisation Fighting World Poverty based in Dublin have recognised the important role of volunteers within the organisation. We value the enormous contribution of our dedicated team of volunteers and invite you to become part of that team.

SHOPS

Our 14 shops around Northern Ireland need volunteers to raise money to support our work in Africa. Perhaps you have an interest in window display or in Fairtrade products or would enjoy finding a suitable outfit for a discerning customer. If you could spare 3 hours per week to help out in any of our shops please contact your nearest shop (see list of Shops) or contact information@waronwantnI.org  

FUNDRAISING

FASHION SHOWS

War on Want NI is well known for staging fashion shows with a difference!

GLIMPSE INTO THE PAST is a presentation of garments from 1840s to 1919. The volunteer models stage a show, which includes a Victorian bridal outfit, a Victorian bathing dress and an assortment of crinolines and bustles.

THE FLAPPER SHOW stages a collection of outfits from the twenties and thirties and includes an outfit worn at the Jubilee celebration of King George V.

HELPING IN THE OFFICE

Have you administrative skills and some free time? In our Head Office in Belfast we need help! Help with everyday tasks such as filing, photocopying, counting money, and preparing mailings would be very much appreciated. Contact us at information@waronwantni.org or telephone +44 (0) 28 9023 2064

PRESENTATIONS ON DEVELOPMENT ISSUES OR OUR OVERSEAS WORK

Various interested groups contact us to give information presentations to their members on International Development Issues such as FAIRTRADE and/or our work in Africa.
