War on Want Northern Ireland — Fighting World PovertyWar on Want NI was formed in 1961. It is an independent Northern Ireland development agency that works in partnership with poor communities in Malawi, Uganda and Tanzania.
Over 300,000 people living in poor communities in Africa benefit as a result of projects supported by War on Want NI. War on Want NI works in partnership with over 60 community based organisations in Malawi, Uganda and Tanzania, supporting each partner to achieve increasing benefits for the communities they serve.
War on Want NI’s programmes include care for children orphaned by AIDS, food and livestock production, health promotion, HIV awareness, peace building, business start-up and care for vulnerable communities such as people with disabilities and the elderly.
